what's the thread size on this plug, and is it a JIC fitting or something else?

The male end runs a 1-5/16-12 thread and yes, it uses a 37 degree JIC flare seat. That flare angle is the standard for JIC connections, so it'll mate up correctly with any female JIC 37 degree flare port of the same size. It's a straight hex plug, meaning there's no elbow or reducer involved, just a clean termination point for an open port.

i’ve got a 1-5/16-12 JIC flare port i need to cap off, is this the right plug for that?

With a 1-5/16-12 male JIC 37 degree flare, this part is meant to plug a matching female JIC 37 degree flare connection in that same thread size.
