trying to plug off a 7/8-14 jic flare port, is this the right one?

For a 7/8-14 JIC 37 degree flare port, yes, that is exactly what this plug is made for. It is a male JIC fitting that threads directly into a female 7/8-14 JIC port and seals at the 37 degree flare seat. No thread sealant needed since the metal-to-metal flare contact handles the seal. fitting says 7/8-14 male JIC, that the thread pitch I need to match up with a standard JIC female port or is there something special about this one?

Standard 7/8-14 UNF thread on the male end, so it'll mate with any female JIC port running that same thread size. The 37-degree flare angle is the defining factor for JIC connections, and this plug matches that spec.
