got a bulkhead fitting spot in a panel that needs something running straight through both sides with 1-5/8-12 JIC on each end, this the right piece for that?

That's what this adapter is built for. Both ends are 1-5/8-12 male JIC 37 degree flare, and the straight bulkhead configuration lets it pass through a panel or wall and connect lines on either side without any angle or offset.
