reckon this adapter will hook up my M22 metric line straight to a 7/8 JIC without any bends or issues

Absolutely, that's exactly what this adapter handles. One end takes your M22 x 1.5 metric fitting with the 24 degree cone seat, and the other end connects to standard 7/8-14 JIC 37 degree flare fittings. Both ends are male connections, so you'll need female fittings on whatever you're connecting together.
