got a piece of equipment here with a BSPP port and everything else on the system runs NPT. this the right adapter to bridge that gap?

That's what this one's for. One end is 1/4-19 male BSPP, the other is 1/4-18 male NPT, so it connects those two thread standards directly without needing any intermediate fittings. Both sides are male threads, so you'd be threading into female ports on each end of your connection. Straight configuration keeps the hydraulic connections simple and the flow path clean.
