got a line running BSPP on one end and JIC 37 on the other, this the right adapter to tie them together straight through?

That's what this one's built for. One end is 1/2-14 Male BSPP, the other is 7/8-14 Male JIC 37 degree flare, and it runs straight with no angle. If your existing fittings are female on both sides, this'll bridge that thread mismatch without needing an elbow or block in between.
