got a hose setup with 5/8-14 BSPP on both ends. is this just a straight coupler to tie em together?

For joining two same-size BSPP male connections, this part is a straight male union with 5/8-14 BSPP threads on both ends.

It's made to fit tubing with a 0.63 inch outside diameter.

both ends are 5/8-14 BSPP, so this is just a straight union then? trying to figure out if it'll work as a male-to-male coupler between two female ports

Correct on all counts. Both threads are 5/8-14 BSPP male, and the fitting runs straight through with no change in thread size or type. Put it between two female BSPP ports and it joins them directly. The tube O.D. on this one is 0.63 inch, so make sure your line sizing lines up with that before ordering.
