no mandrel needed on this one, right? trying to figure out if we can just crimp it straight with what we got on hand

Correct, no mandrel is required for this fitting. That simplifies things considerably on the shop floor since you're not hunting down extra tooling before you get started. It's a straight configuration with a 7/16-20 female JIC 37 degree flare swivel end, built to work with -04 hose size, so as long as your crimp setup handles that hose and fitting combination, you're good to go.
