got a hose end that’s 3/8-18 female npt. will this adapter let me hook it up to a 3/4-14 male npt port?

It matches what you described. One side is a 3/8-18 Female NPT swivel, and the other side is a 3/4-14 Male NPT, straight.

got a 3/4 male NPT port on a manifold block and need to step down to a 3/8 female swivel connection. this the right fitting for that?

That's what this adapter is built for. The male end threads into your 3/4-14 NPT port, and the 3/8-18 female NPT swivel end accepts the incoming line. The swivel feature on the female side makes it easier to get a clean, aligned connection without twisting up the hose or tubing during installation.
