Will this fitting hold up in a marine environment, or is it more for shop use?

This adapter is definitely suitable for marine applications, along with chemical processing, pulp and paper, food and beverage, and even offshore drilling.

what industries is this adapter actually built for? asking cause we run a pretty mixed operation and need something that'll hold up across different setups

trying to hook up a 3/8 npt hose end to a 3/8 npt port but i need it to turn 45 degrees, is this the right adapter?

For that kind of hookup, this adapter matches what you’re describing. It’s a 45 degree elbow in the Eaton Aeroquip 2049 series with a 3/8-18 female NPT swivel (listed as NPSM internal pipe swivel) on one end and a 3/8-18 male NPT (NPTF external pipe) on the other.
