got a hose end thats 1-5/16-12 female JIC swivel, will this step it down to a 7/8-14 male JIC and still be a straight adapter?

Built for exactly that reduction, it goes from a 1-5/16-12 female JIC 37 degree flare swivel end to a 7/8-14 male JIC 37 degree flare, and it is a straight reducer adapter in the Eaton Aeroquip 221501 series.

That's what it's for. It's a reducer adapter made to connect those two specific sizes of SAE 37 degree flare fittings.

That's what this adapter is built for. The female end is 1-5/16-12 JIC 37 degree flare swivel, and the male end is 7/8-14 JIC 37 degree flare, so it bridges those two sizes in a straight configuration. Both sides use the same SAE 37 degree flare seating, so the connection geometry matches up clean on either end.
