i’ve got a hose end that’s 1-1/16-12 female JIC swivel, what does the other side of this adapter screw into?

On the other end you get a 3/4-16 male JIC 37 degree flare. It is a straight reducer adapter, so it steps down from the 1-1/16-12 female swivel side to the 3/4-16 male side, both in SAE 37 degree flare (JIC) style.

trying to hook up a -12 jic hose end to a -8 jic line, is this the right adapter for that?

Use-case wise, it’s a straight reducer adapter that goes from a 1-1/16-12 female JIC 37 degree flare swivel on one side to a 3/4-16 male JIC 37 degree flare on the other. That matches the common -12 JIC to -8 JIC step down.
