Got a line running 1-1/16-12 female JIC on one end and need to step down to a 7/8-14 male JIC on the other, this the right adapter for that?

That's exactly what this one does. It connects a 1-1/16-12 female JIC 37 degree flare on one side to a 7/8-14 male JIC 37 degree flare on the other, in a straight configuration. Both ends use the same 37 degree flare seating, so the connection geometry is consistent across the joint. It's a reducer-style adapter, going from a size 12 female down to a size 10 male, and it's made from steel. Solid choice for that size transition in a hydraulic line.

trying to hook a -12 female JIC line to a -10 male JIC, is this the straight adapter for that?

For that kind of size change, yes. This part is a straight JIC 37 degree flare union with a 1-1/16-12 female JIC on one end and a 7/8-14 male JIC on the other, so it mates a -12 female JIC flare connection to a -10 male JIC flare connection.
