Got a port on my hydraulic manifold that's 3/4-16 SAE O-ring boss. Will this adapter let me thread in a 1/2 NPT female line without a bunch of extra fittings in the way?

Straight shot, no extra pieces needed. The 2066-8-8S threads directly into a 3/4-16 SAE O-ring boss port on one end, and the other end accepts a 1/2-14 female NPT swivel connection. That swivel feature on the NPT side helps with alignment when you're making up the connection, which cuts down on the wrestling match you'd otherwise have getting everything to line up clean.

got a hose end with 1/2-14 female npt swivel, will this screw right onto that and give me a 3/4-16 sae o-ring boss on the other side?

For a straight adapter that goes from pipe to SAE O-ring Boss, this part is set up exactly that way: one end is 1/2-14 female NPT swivel and the other end is a 3/4-16 male SAE O-ring boss straight thread.

This adapter directly connects a 1/2-14 female NPT swivel to a 3/4-16 male SAE O-ring boss. It's a straight adapter, as the name suggests.
