got a 1/4-18 female NPT port on a pump and need to connect it to a 9/16-18 SAE O-ring boss fitting, this the right adapter for that?

That's what this one's built for. The 2066-4-6S bridges a 1/4-18 female NPT swivel end to a 9/16-18 male SAE O-ring boss, straight configuration. The swivel end gives you a little wiggle room during assembly so you're not fighting the line to get everything to line up. It's from Eaton Aeroquip's 2066 series, so the machining and tolerances are consistent with what you'd expect from that line.

Function-wise it bridges those two thread types in a straight adapter: 1/4-18 female NPT swivel on one end to a 9/16-18 male SAE O-Ring Boss (straight thread O-ring) on the other.

These Eaton Aeroquip adapters are often used in marine applications, so it should hold up just fine in a saltwater environment.
