So, this fitting's got that swivel end, right? Does that make it easier to get everything lined up when you're putting it together?

Absolutely, that swivel is there to give you some wiggle room during installation. It lets you rotate the fitting to the right position without twisting the hose itself, which is a big help in tight spots.
