adapter says it's for pressures thru 4 light spiral hose, does that mean it won't hold up on heavier spiral hose assemblies?

Correct. The rated pressure range on this part is specifically for hoses up to and including 4 light spiral construction. Running it on heavier spiral hose configurations would push beyond what this adapter is rated for, so you'd want to match the fitting to the hose series you're actually using.
