got a port that’s G 1/2 BSPP, is this the right plug to cap it off?

For capping a G 1/2 BSPP port, this is a male BSPP plug with Thread 1 listed as G 1/2 and End Type BSPP, so it matches that thread style and size.

Part says G 1/2 male BSPP plug, so this is just blocking off a port, right? Not connecting two lines together?

Correct. A plug fitting like this one seals off an open port rather than joining two fluid lines. The male BSPP thread screws directly into a female BSPP port and closes it. That makes it handy when you've got an unused hydraulic port that needs to stay sealed during operation or when a circuit is reconfigured and a branch gets taken out of service.
