clamp says 2.28 to 2.59 inch diameter range -- does that mean it'll fit a 2.5 inch hose without any issues?

A 2.5 inch hose sits right in the middle of this clamp's adjustment range, which runs from 2.2813 up to 2.5938 inches. You'll have room on both ends to get a proper seat without maxing out the bolt travel. The 0.75 inch band width gives you decent coverage across the hose bead too, so it should clamp down evenly without distorting the hose end.
