Got a line running 3/8 BSPP on the equipment side and the rest of my system is NPT, this adapter gonna bridge that gap?

That's exactly the situation this fitting handles. One end is 3/8 male BSPP (G 3/8 - 19) and the other is 1/4 female NPT (1/4 - 18 NPTF), so it threads right between those two standards without any additional adapters in between. Just keep in mind the size steps down from 3/8 to 1/4, so make sure your flow requirements work with that reduction before you install it.

Will this fitting hold up okay outside? I'm hooking up a small hydraulic cylinder to split wood, and it's gonna be exposed to the weather.
