Does this fitting need any kind of sealant on the threads, or is it good to go as-is?

No sealant needed on the threads. The 7/16-20 female JIC 37-degree flare connection seals on the flare itself, not the threads, so adding sealant would actually be unnecessary and could cause problems. Just make sure your mating surface is clean and the flare angle matches up.
