What kind of pressure can this handle, just curious?

These couplers can handle up to 150 PSI for the sizes up to 4 inches. For the 5- to 8-inch sizes, they're rated for 75 PSI.

safety pins on these, how do they actually work? do i gotta do something special to get em attached or do they just slide in once its coupled up?

Once you've slid the adapter in and pressed the cam levers down, the female coupler has cast-in lugs that line up with slots in the cam lever arms. You just pass the lugs through those slots and drop the safety pins in. After that the coupler won't uncouple until you pull the pins back out. No tools needed, it's all hand operation.

got a 3 inch hose, does this one just shove on and clamp or is it threaded somehow?

With the 3 inch hose shank, it is meant to slide into a 3 inch industrial hose and be secured using the hose attachment method recommended for that hose. It is not a threaded end, it is a hose shank connection.
