fitting's 42.8mm long and I got limited space between components, that dimension is the full end-to-end length, right?

Yes, 42.8mm is the overall length of the fitting from end to end. That's the number to work with when you're checking clearances. The wrench flat runs 27mm across, so factor that in too if you're tight on space around the hex when torquing it down.

got a hose end thats 1/2 jic male with 3/4-16 threads. will this adapt it over to a m22x1.5 din tube l15?

For tying those two standards together, it adapts a 1/2 inch JIC male end with 3/4 - 16 UNF threads on one side to a M22 x 1.5 male DIN 2353 Light connection for DIN tube size L15 on the other.
