trying to hook a JIC line to a BSPP port, is this the right adapter?

It’s a straight stainless adapter made for exactly that kind of crossover. Side 1 is a male JIC in 3/8 size with 9/16-18 UNF threads, and side 2 is a male BSPP in 1/2 size with G 1/2-14 threads.

Got a line running 3/8 JIC on one end and need to tie into a 1/2 BSPP port on a piece of imported equipment. this fitting do that job?

That's what this adapter is built for. One end is a male 9/16-18 UNF JIC thread, which corresponds to a 3/8 JIC line, and the other end is a male G 1/2-14 BSPP thread for the 1/2 inch BSPP port. Both sides are male, so make sure your mating connections are female on both ends before ordering.
