trying to swap out a straight DIN union i’ve got now, what are the thread and size details on this one

Both ends are female M18 x 1.5 DIN tube connections, and each side is size L12.

Both ends on this thing are female M18 x 1.5, does that mean it's meant to connect two male DIN tube fittings together, or am I reading that wrong?

You're reading it right. Both sides are female M18 x 1.5 DIN tube connections, so it works as a union that joins two male DIN tube ends in a straight run.
