Both sides are M18 x 1.5 DIN tube fittings, that right for connecting two tube ends straight through without any adapting going on?

That's what this union does. Both sides carry the same M18 x 1.5 DIN tube connection, male on each end, so it's a straight-through union meant to join two matching tube ends in line. No thread conversion, no adapting between different standards. If your system already runs DIN tube fittings at that thread size, this drops right in.
