got a line that keeps trying to spin on me during hookup, would an inline swivel like this help keep things from twisting up?

Inline swivels are built for exactly that kind of situation. When you've got a line that wants to rotate or torque during connection or operation, running it through a swivel joint lets the fitting rotate freely so the hose or pipe behind it doesn't have to. The 3/4 FNPT threads on both ends make it straightforward to drop into an existing 3/4 NPT female-threaded line without any adapters in between.

got a 3/4 female NPT line on both sides. is this swivel the right thread setup for that?

With 3/4 FNPT on each end, it is meant to connect to matching 3/4 male NPT fittings on both sides. It is an inline swivel, so it sits in the line between those two threaded connections.
