got a tank that’s tapped 1/2 npt. is this breather gonna screw right in?

thread on this is 1/2 NPT, so it'll screw right into a standard half-inch port on a hydraulic reservoir or gearbox without any adapters?

A 1/2 NPT thread will fit directly into any port machined to that same standard, no adapters needed. NPT is a tapered thread, so it seals as it's tightened, which keeps things clean and snug. Just make sure the port you're threading into is also NPT and not BSPP or some other standard, because those won't mate up correctly even if the size looks close.
