Product Questions & Answers

got a tractor with a non reaction steering setup. is this unit the right style, or is it one of them load reaction ones
Question by: Roy P on Sep 18, 2025, 8:53 PM
Non load reaction is the steering circuit type on this unit, so it matches a non reaction setup. It is a Series 3-6-12 steering control unit with 4.50 cu in per rev displacement and integral valves.

got a older tractor with a busted steering unit and this looks like it might be the right swap, it running on petroleum fluid okay or do I need something special?
Question by: Merle W on Oct 20, 2025, 9:18 AM
Petroleum-based fluids work fine with this unit, and ATF Type A is also on the approved list. As long as your system stays under 200 degrees F and you're running clean fluid at an ISO 18/13 cleanliness level, you're in good shape. One thing worth knowing is that the system temperature and the steering unit temperature shouldn't differ by more than 50 degrees F, so if your tractor runs hot, make sure the fluid circulating through the unit is reasonably close to system temp before you put it under load.
