pump says CCW rotation -- can that actually be switched over to run clockwise if I need it to?

Reversing the rotation on this pump is doable without any extra parts. You open it up, swap the drive gear and idler gear, reposition the plug, and put it back together. The wear plate design was built to make that process straightforward. Just make sure you reassemble everything correctly before putting it back in service.
