Product Questions & Answers

got a line with 5/8 OD tubing on it now, is this the same size or am i gonna be off?
Question by: Lyle R on Oct 2, 2025, 5:41 PM
Match it up by the measurements. This tubing is 0.63 inch outside diameter, with a 0.095 inch wall and about a 0.435 inch inside diameter.

What kinda pressure can this tubing handle without poppin'?
Question by: Cindy H on Jun 13, 2025, 7:16 PM
This seamless carbon steel tubing is rated to handle a maximum working pressure of 2787 PSI, based on SAE specification J1065.
Answer by: Customer Support on Jun 15, 2025, 4:16 PM
working pressure on this tubing is listed at 2787 psi, but we run systems that see some pretty good hydraulic shock from time to time. should i be looking at a lower number for actual use?
Question by: Johnny M on Feb 13, 2026, 6:04 AM
Good thinking to account for shock. The 2787 psi figure is already calculated using a 6:1 safety factor, which is the recommended starting point when hydraulic shock and mechanical strain are considered considerable. If your system hits severe shock conditions on a regular basis, an 8:1 safety factor applies, and you'd want to work off a lower safe operating pressure than what's listed. For lighter duty where shock really isn't a concern, a 4:1 factor and higher working pressures can be carefully considered. Match the safety factor to your actual conditions and size accordingly.

got a piece of tubing here that measures right at 5/8 OD. is this the one with about a .095 wall and around .44 ID?
Question by: Tony J on Dec 14, 2025, 5:01 PM
The key dimensions on this tube are 0.63 inch outside diameter with a 0.095 inch wall, which puts the inside diameter at about 0.435 inch (often rounded to 0.44). If your measurements are landing in that neighborhood, it matches.
