Product Questions & Answers

got a job that calls for 1-1/4" OD tube, is this the SAE J524 seamless stuff or something else
Question by: Dean C on Apr 27, 2025, 3:28 PM
Built to SAE J524, it is seamless low carbon steel tubing that is annealed for bending and flaring, with a listed tensile strength of 55,000 psi.

what's the max working pressure on this tubing? got a system running around 1,200 psi and wanna make sure it'll hold up without issues
Question by: Denise C on Sep 24, 2025, 7:02 AM
At 1,393 psi maximum working pressure, you've got a little headroom over your 1,200 psi system. That rating already accounts for a 6:1 safety factor, which is applied for applications where hydraulic shock and mechanical strain are considered considerable. If your system runs smooth with minimal shock, some operators carefully apply a 4:1 safety factor, which allows for higher working pressures. On the flip side, if you're dealing with severe shock conditions, the recommended 8:1 factor would bring that working pressure number down. For a steady 1,200 psi system without heavy shock, this tubing fits comfortably within its rated range.
