For ambient air around the machine, it is rated from -40°F up to 140°F. On the oil side, the stated fluid temperature range is -4°F to 176°F when you are using standard Buna-N seals.

You can run up to 4600 PSI maximum operating pressure through these SD8 series valves. The flow rating is 21 GPM making them a solid fit for heavy duty hydraulic equipment.

Cold weather operation is covered pretty well with this valve. The ambient temperature rating goes down to -40°F, and with the standard Buna-N seals, fluid temperature can drop as low as -4°F before you're pushing outside the rated range. Just keep in mind that startup viscosity matters too. The fluid viscosity ceiling is 1950 SSU maximum, so if your oil is thick and cold at first start, give it a minute to warm up before putting the system under full load. Once things are moving and temps normalize, you're well within spec for most winter conditions.

For open and closed center hydraulic systems, the SD8 sectional valve setup is built to work either way, and it is rated for 21 GPM flow. It also has a main pressure relief valve and a load check on each work section to help keep operation steady when you are shifting functions.
