When you're in 2-wheel mode, the non-driving motors still get a steady supply of supercharge oil routed through this valve. That keeps cavitation from developing in those idle motors, which is a real concern when they're spinning freely without load. Worth noting though, if you're staying in 2-wheel drive for long stretches, you'll want to cycle into 4-wheel drive every now and then just to push cooler oil through those non-driving motors and keep temps in check.

This 2-wheel / 4-wheel selector valve is handy for hydraulic systems where you need to switch between two-wheel and four-wheel drive, like on some tractors or heavy equipment. It prevents cavitation in the non-driving motors when you're running in two-wheel drive.

In 2-wheel drive mode, the circuit sends supercharge oil to the non-driving wheel motors so they stay fed and do not cavitate while they are being back-driven.
