does this come with any thread sealant or do I need to bring my own tape and compound to the job?

No sealant is included with this nipple, which actually works in your favor. You get to pick whatever sealing method fits your setup, whether that's PTFE tape, pipe dope, or something else your system calls for. That flexibility matters when you're working across different fluid types or pressure ranges.

trying to replace a short nipple in a manifold, is this one 3/8 npt on both ends and 3 inches long?

It’s a 3.00 inch long steel pipe nipple with 3/8-18 male NPT threads.
