got a tight spot in a pneumatic line where i need just a little extension off a tee fitting, would a 1-inch close nipple in 3/8 NPT do the trick?

For tight clearance situations, a 1-inch Schedule 40 nipple in 3/8-18 NPT is about as short as you can go while still getting full thread engagement on both ends. The male NPT threads on this one are cut to standard taper, so it'll seat up snug against most fittings without any drama. Just make sure you're applying your own thread sealant since none comes applied to it.

For cramped installs, this one fits the bill since it is 1.00 inch long and has 3/8-18 male NPT threads.
