That's what you've got here. It's a 1/8-27 male NPT close nipple, 0.625 inches long, Schedule 40 black iron construction. Close nipples are threaded end to end with minimal unthreaded material in the middle, so they're built for tight spots where you need two fittings joined up with almost no gap between them.

need a real short 1/8 npt nipple for a tight spot. is this one the close nipple thats 0.625 long?

For tight clearances, this is the short close nipple size. It has 1/8-27 male NPT threads and an overall length listed at 0.625 inch.
