got a spot where two steel pipe sections need joining and the gap looks to be right around 2 and a half inches. this nipple gonna fill that without any slop in the connection?

At 2.50 inches in length with 1-1/2-11-1/2 male NPT threads on both ends, that measurement lines up well for close-quarter connections between standard pipe fittings. Schedule 40 wall thickness keeps the fit solid, and the threading is cut to NPT spec so there is no play when torqued down properly. Just make sure the female fittings on both sides are also 1-1/2 NPT and you should have a tight, secure connection.

got a short run between two fittings. is this nipple actually 2-1/2 inches long end to end?
