what's this fitting made out of, and will it hold up in a wet or corrosive environment?

Stainless steel construction with Dura-Kote plating means it handles corrosive conditions pretty well. That combination gives you both the structural strength of stainless and an extra layer of protection against rust and environmental wear, so wet or chemically rough environments aren't going to be a major concern with this one.
