reckon this'll fit a standard o-ring groove on my cylinder rod?

got a cylinder with a 2 inch rod, is this TR-027 the right size or am i mixin up bore and rod size

Fit comes down to rod diameter on this one. TR-027 is sized for a 2.00 inch rod diameter and it is meant to sit in an O-ring groove style rod seal setup.

What kind of material is this seal made from, and can it hold up in a system running close to max pressure?

Buna-N rubber makes up the sealing element, backed by hard plastic back-up rings on either side. That combo is rated to handle anywhere from 0 all the way up to 10,000 PSI, so running near the top end of your system pressure isn't going to be a problem for it as long as you're within that range.
