does this fitting need any kind of sealant or mandrel to go on, or is it pretty much ready to thread right in?

No sealant needed and no mandrel required. It meets NPTF standards, so the thread form itself handles the seal when properly torqued. Just thread it in with a 0.88 hex wrench setup and you're good to go. Keeps the installation straightforward without any extra prep steps.
