does this fitting work for compressed air lines, or is it more of a hydraulic thing?

Compressed air and pneumatic instrumentation lines are exactly what this fitting was built for. It also handles lubricant and cooling line applications. The nickel-plated brass body holds up well in those environments, and with a pressure rating up to 250 psi depending on tube size, it covers most standard pneumatic circuit work without issue.

i got 6mm metric tubing. will this fitting go right on it, and what’s the other end thread?

It is made for 6.00 mm tube outside diameter on the push-to-connect side. The threaded side is a 1/4-19 male Universal BSPP/BSPT straight adapter.

What kind of temperatures can this fitting handle? Need it for a pretty hot application.

These fittings are rated for temperatures between -40F and 200F. That should cover most hot applications, but always good to double-check your specific needs.
