got a pump that pulls oil out of a tank, will this hose handle suction without collapsing on me?

For suction service, it’s built with a single steel helical wire plus high-tensile synthetic textile reinforcement, and it carries a 28 inch vacuum service rating. That construction is meant for suction and discharge of petroleum products, not just pressure-only transfer.

Does this hose hold up when you're pulling fluid through it, or is it really just meant for pushing product out?

Works both ways. Rated for suction and discharge duty, with a vacuum service rating of 28 inches of mercury. That means it can handle the pull side without collapsing, which is what the steel helical wire reinforcement is there for. Plenty capable for loading and unloading petroleum products in a normal transfer setup.
