Does this unit need any kind of calibration or adjustable end setup before putting it to work?

No calibration or adjustable end is required with this model. It's built to go in without that extra setup step, which makes the install process a good bit simpler than some other units folks deal with. No thread sealant needed either, so you're not fussing with sealing compounds before it goes in.
