got a single-acting ram for some maintenance work. how’s this pump set up to hold and then let the cylinder back down

For extend and hold, the valve function is pump on to extend, then off to hold. To return, you shut the pump off and manually shift the valve to send the cylinder back.

running this off a small generator on the job site, will 10 amps at 115 volt be enough or am I gonna need something bigger?

Ten amps at 115VAC is the full current draw for this pump, so a small generator should handle it without much trouble. The low amperage draw is actually one of the reasons this unit gets used in field situations where you're working off limited power. Just make sure your generator can sustain that load under the startup demand, since this motor is rated to start under full load.
