got a hansen HK series coupler sittin on a hose, is this PDC20HK cap the right thing to keep the end clean when it’s not hooked up?

For HK Series quick disconnect couplings, the PDC20HK dust cap is meant to cover the coupling end during storage or changeover so dirt and moisture stay out of the port.
