pump's got two stages on it, what's actually happening between that 300 PSI first stage and the 10,000 PSI second stage, and when does it switch over?

At low resistance, the pump runs in first stage, pushing fluid fast at 300 PSI so your cylinder advances without a lot of effort on the handle. Once the load builds up past what first stage can handle, it shifts over automatically to second stage and delivers up to 10,000 PSI for the actual work, pressing, lifting, clamping, whatever you've got going. You don't have to do anything to trigger the switch. That two-stage setup is what makes it practical for repetitive jobs since you're not grinding through a heavy stroke on every advance.

Can I use this pump with any old cylinder or does it need to be Enerpac brand?
