Does this pump need any kind of calibration or adjustment out of the box, or is it pretty much ready to run once its installed?

No calibration needed and nothing to adjust. The 5000/5100 is built without any adjustable end or remote control components, so once it's in the system it runs as-is. No ratcheting mechanisms, no check valve setup, no thread sealant requirements either. Just get it installed and you're good to go.
