Does this clamp need any adjusting after you get it installed, or is it basically set it and forget it once it's on there?

Once it's in place, no adjustments are needed. The non-adjustable end locks it into a fixed, tight hold, so there's no going back to check tension or retighten anything down the road. That's kind of the whole point of the preformed design.
