Will this adapter work with any Char-Lynn H series motor, or just certain ones?

It's designed for Char-Lynn H & S Series motors with a 4-bolt flange.

got a chain drive hanging off the shaft and it’s been hard on my motor seal. is that what this overhung adapter is for?

Side loads from things like sprockets, pulleys, and belts put axial and radial stress into the motor, pump, or brake shaft. An overhung load adapter takes that load through its own deep-groove ball bearings, which helps protect the driven unit and its shaft seal from the stress and from contaminants that commonly lead to seal and motor failure.
